Just a Mom

"JUST A MOM"

right now i am blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom, For the past few years shane has been able to provide enough income for our family to allow me to stay home...However, When that income wasn't enough for our family i have been a working mom too so i have experienced both sides of motherhood....working and staying home...

When Hannah was smaller...i worked from 7 am till 5 pm everyday and also went to school at Greenville tech part time all at the same time..i took night classes and a class during lunch...On top of all of this i was heavily involved with church going Sunday, Sunday night and Wednesday nights never missing i was in the choir and taught classes too....not to mention the normal mommy stuff and wife stuff and house stuff...So i guess you can say i REALLY experienced working out of the home to the extreme....

now that i am a stay at home mom I can sometimes find myself feeling worthless, useless and like I am doing nothing...I know this isn't true, but i have struggled with the insecurities of being a stay at home mom in the past...One time a couple of years ago my oldest hannah asked me "what do you want to be when you grow up mommy" i felt like a stupid loser....Like being home with her and gracie was not important and that i quickly had to find a career route because my daughter thought being a stay at home mom wasn't good enough...Satan really used this to get me down and make me feel useless...I used that saying "I'm just a mom" a lot...When Actually I had the opportunity to impact the world through the two little people sitting in the car that day....I prayed for guidance and peace in my heart..but..i just couldn't understand how I 'the girl with all the dreams of being a doctor became "just a mom"....WOW 'just a mom' is the most important Job that i have been handed....I am "just a mom" who gets to stay home with her 3 kids and be there for their every need...experience everyday life with them....teach them Jesus...show them to forgive and ask forgiveness, Kiss them and hug them, but discipline(teach) them on how to behave and respect others...I am Just a mom who gets to impact their little lives every day and create earth shaking life change and visions of dreams and hope just with the reassuring of my belief in them and their abilities to succeed in how God made them while they are using the talents He gave them...I am "just a mom"

So yes i am blessed to be Just a mom....I am just a mom who:
*gets to sleep with one eye closed and one eye open to hear a whimper or cry from one of my 3 children
*changes diapers all time
*makes bottles and feeds the baby and it feels Like all day
*wipes snotty nose's and dirty big kid hiney's
*is the doctor i always dreamed of being, i get to mend broken hearts, fix wounds, kiss boo boo's and make them all better...
*gets interrupted while using the bathroom and taking a relaxing bath (yeah right it's relaxing):)
*hears kiddie shows all day
*thinks slipping away to the computer or lunch with my hubby is the equivalent to a spa retreat LOL
*follows my 5 year old down the hall sweeping up cookies and wiping up milk (paige has actually seen me do this LOL)
*is a homework helper
*gets to volunteer at school on the coldest day of the year LOL (nicole e. knows what i am talking about here)
*reads fancy nancy books all the time and actually likes it
*can qoute good night moon word by word
* had dreams of being a popular singer and they came true too...Have requests all the time from my kids and i feel like jukebox LOL
*grocery shopping with 3 kids HEHEHEHEHEH FUN FUN
*gets to play with her kids all the time YAY :)
*is also a taxi driver! and a screaming baby in a closed car NOT FUN especially with two whiney girls who are beating each other up and barney is playing in the back ground :) LOL
*is a walking burb cloth...smells like throw up all day
*does WAY too much laundry and wonders how 3 little people have more laundry then two grown ups?!?!?!?!?
*wears baby food after hayden decides to do raspberries with gerbers chicken noodle stage two in his mouth...So if i have a orange tint to my face that would be why!
*gets to tell my 3 little ones about Jesus and how he saved me and how much he loves me and how much he loves them...
*is totally blessed and highly favored
*is super blessed to be "JUST a MOM"

I have felt the same way many times, but when your children become adults and have children of their own, they will look back and remember who was there for them every day of their childhood and who took care of their every need and when their children ask them "Mommy what do you want to be when you grow up" they will say, "I'm just a mom, like my mom was just a mom to me and I'll never forget all that she did for me. I'm proud to be just like her." Children grow up so fast and before you know it, they're grown up and gone..we are blessed to be witness every moment of their little lives and cherish the gifts that God has entrusted to us. You're an AMAZING Mom!!!

I too was a stay at home mom. AS my children are grown now (28 and 25 years old) Looking back I wouldn't trade it for the world. Yeah we probally could have had more material things if I had of worked out side of the home. But nothing will replace all the memories of being a stay at home MOM. And now I get to be a grandmother lol
